I didnt have have any problems extracting the sugar, but i think its due to grinding the grain to dust instead of using a roller mill. I fould the grains tougher to grind and probably caused issues for roller mills.
1 for me
I just kegged mine last night. its set to 40 psi until tomorrow. Im sure the carbonation will be a bit messed up but at least there should be something in bottles by fri.
This is an awesome idea! I have been toying with the idea of recirculating and catching trub in middle with a stainless circle such as this: https://www.morebeer.com/products/trub-trapper.html
but between the cost of a pump and this trapper device, I haven’t bothered.
your basket is a much better solution and price is right!
Does it…[Read more]
Bad news, apparently leaving my kegorator accessable to my family and friends (and me) isnt such a good idea.
I was only able to get 1 litre of each beer from the kegs, so i ended up mixing them into 1 2l growler.
I will only be able to bring 1 beer, which will be a straw/rasp mixture that tastes like fruit punch.
Welcome to London!
Meetings are last tues of each month. next being at Forked River at 730 on this upcoming Tuesday.
Hi Scott, Ok i will bring 2L of each.
Im fine with serving them at the same time, back to back or spread out. whatever you guys think is fine with me.
I’d like to showcase the differences between brewing with strawberry vs raspberry.
Split batch, half secondary’d with strawberry, half with Raspberry.
How large is the standard sample size?
Should i bring 1/2 a sample of each or 1 full sample of each? or just mix them? (ends up tasting like fruit punch)
Afterwards if there is time, id like to see…[Read more]
I haven’t noticed any off flavors but I think I may try this as well.
Since you added the filter, has the funny flavor existed?
Possibly you added too much salt?
From my understanding, you dont want to ferment ale over 70. Also ale fermentation creates some heat so if the ambient air is 70 the beer is probably 75?
Im not sure if this helps, but heres the reference from how to brew..
Did you add any salts?
Are you sure u cleaned all the soap from your fermenter/boil kettle/kegs?
Are you sure that your beer isnt going through that filter instead of the water?
Im interested in this as well. instead of a flow restrictor at the end of the hose i have tried “swizzle sticks” or “mixer sticks” inside the tube and flow restrictor at the tap.
At the end of the day i found that any restriction i added to the beer just added turblence and caused the co2 to be knocked out of solution.
I ended up using 25′ of…[Read more]
Sorry, I didnt notice this thread until now. was a busy weekend.
I updated the sheet today on tuesday and highlighted it yellow just so u dont get numbers mixed up.
I have like 50 ft of cab tire 30a wire and a gfci sub panel spa pack for safety. But if propane is preferred, thats fine too.
Sure, I can volunteer for this. I would prefer to be at whichever place can offer 30a 240v. Alternatively I can use propane but i would need to borrow someone’s burner.
If my assistant(s) is/are interested in picking the recipe and collecting the ingredients they can take the wort with them as well. batch size will be 10 or 15 gal.
If we have…[Read more]
5 gal pails hold roughly 1/2 bag of grain and they are only like 3 each
Danny’s often sells them, or often they are listed on kijiji.
I used to use these:
they are german swing tops. I think they are much better than grolsch. They fit in cases better due to their slim design and are amber in colour instead of green. The glass seems a bit stronger too.
I have a ss 10 gallon kettle with false bottom and ball valve that i could part with.
Its probably a little small for 10 gal batches though.
